The new series that will start June 4th is a continuation of sorts from the end of 2 Chronicles. Ezra actually begins with the decree from Cyrus that ends 2 Chronicles. Ezra, Esther and Nehemiah were written during what is known as the Post-Exilic Period, that is, the hundred years or so that follows the return from exile in Babylon that began about 537 BC. The Post-Exilic Period (537 to 430 BC) includes rebuilding the Temple and walls of Jerusalem. Haggai, Zechariah and Malachi were also prophesying in this time period and will be mentioned in this study.
